   Drivers going to Galveston face I-45 lane closures, extended detour starting Aug. 7

   The most significant traffic changes will be short-term main lane closures from FM 519 to Tiki Drive and a reroute near Texas City that will be in place for the next two years. They're part of a project to widen I-45 to eight lanes.

   Texas City man sentenced 90 years in prison, convicted of sexually abusing several young children

   On Tuesday, Galveston County jurors found Jesus Jose Pena Sr. guilty of continuous sex abuse of young children. Jurors heard testimony from four victims who are now adults.
