Following the discovery of human remains in a burned vehicle in Conroe on Monday, Montgomery County is conducting a death investigation.
Reports of "possible human remains" in an overgrown field at the 9800 block of Forest Lane were attended to by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Involved in the inquiry are homicide and violent crime detectives, crime scene investigators, the office of the fire marshal, and the medical examiner's office. The identification of the individual based on DNA testing of the remains is not yet determined.
Although the death is still under inquiry, investigators do not yet suspect foul play. The sheriff's office has not published further information on the events surrounding the vehicle or how it arrived in the field.
