Suspect and Deputy Constable Had Short Exchange Before Fatal Shooting, Prosecutors Say

GALVESTON, Texas- The prosecution has revealed that the suspect and the deputy constable had a conversation just minutes before the fatal shooting.

Cpl. Maher Husseini, a deputy constable, had a brief contact with the individual who is accused of killing him just before the shooting, according to the information that was released by Harris County prosecutors on Thursday. Athir Murady, the suspect, was formally charged with murder and appeared before a judge on Thursday morning. His face was obviously damaged as a result of a bite from a police K-9 that he received during his arrest.

Despite the fact that he was charged with fleeing arrest, Murady is still being held at the Galveston County Jail, where a judge recently denied him bond. The injuries that Murady got during his spectacular capture were documented on video footage that was taken on Wednesday. The clip showcased the deputies who were accompanying Murady to jail.

In the newly disclosed court records, it is stated that dashcam footage from Husseini's vehicle shows the two men meeting at an address that is connected to Husseini's private security business around ten to fifteen minutes before to the shooting. According to reports, the video shows Murady approaching Husseini's vehicle, where they greeted one other and participated in a friendly discussion. After that, they moved to the back of the vehicle and continued their conversation for a number of minutes. One and a half miles distant is where the shooting took place.

Murady is accused of shooting Husseini thirteen times, with five rounds hitting his head and seven bullets hitting his shoulder and chest. The prosecution is filing this allegation. They have a strong suspicion that he utilized a revolver during the assault. In the aftermath of the event, the Galveston police conducted a search of Murady's vehicle, during which they found a number of revolver speed loaders, extra weapon equipment, as well as various cell phones and laptops. However, they did not find any firearms.

In the days leading up to the shooting, the authorities have not confirmed whether or not Husseini and Murady had ever been in a relationship with one another. According to the authorities, Murady ambushed Husseini on Tuesday afternoon when the deputy was waiting at a red light at the intersection of Fondren Road and Richmond Avenue.

After being evacuated by emergency personnel to Ben Taub Hospital, Husseini was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility. According to the sources, the dashcam tape was able to capture the shooting, and a prosecutor from Harris County was present in Galveston on Wednesday night in order to question Murady.

After the shooting, Murady ran away from the site, but he was located and taken into custody as a result of the acute observation of a deputy city marshal from Galveston. The deputy saw a vehicle that matched the description of Murady and immediately notified the authorities. After leading the police on a brief pursuit, Murady drove his vehicle into Galveston Bay, where he made an effort to escape by swimming away but was ultimately apprehended by the law enforcement personnel.

In addition to the fact that Murady is being held without bond, the prosecution has submitted a motion asking for a bond of five million dollars for the murder charge.
