The Polar Express has returned to the Galveston Railroad Museum, offering families a magical holiday journey to the North Pole with hot cocoa, dancing chefs, and Santa himself.
Back at the Galveston Railroad Museum, The Polar Express is entertaining children with an immersive train trip motivated by the classic book and movie this Christmas season. Now, on Dec. 23, trains whisk travelers on a fantastical round-way ride to the North Pole.
The East End Theater cast performs a one-act drama starting the trip at the depot. Passengers then get on the train, where performers bring the narrative to life over an hour. Dancing chefs present hot cocoa and cookies to guests while the conductor punches golden tickets and invites families to join Chris Van Allsburg in reading along.
Santa and his associates join the train headed toward the North Pole and distribute silver bells, the first gift of Christmas, to every passenger. Pajamas are advised to reflect the attitude of the story's young characters.
Tickets are from $35 to $100. There are three seating choices: standard class has classic seats, deluxe class contains flip-over seating and a souvenir ceramic mug while the premium first class comprises table-and-chair seating, themed decorations, and extra souvenirs.
The public is advised to book in advance since popular dates are filling fast. Limited same-day tickets can be available on some dates for last-minute planning.
Everyone is welcome to ride The Polar Express this Christmas season at the Galveston Railroad Museum.
Mark your calendars! The 2025 Mardi Gras Galveston parade, featuring over 20 events and performances by local krewes, is set for Saturday, February 22.
Galveston Island’s history gains a long-overdue spotlight as James Helton and Wavery Guidry, two Black lifeguards who made over 30 rescues during the Jim Crow era, are honored with a Texas Undertold Story Marker.
