The National Weather Service (NWS) in Houston/Galveston has issued a dense fog advisory for areas of the Texas Gulf Coast until 10 a.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT) on Friday. The advisory warns of visibility reductions to a quarter mile or less and possibly dangerous travel conditions. Locations like as the Bolivar Peninsula, Brazoria Islands, Galveston Island, and Matagorda Islands are among those that have been impacted.
According to reports, dense fog has already began to form in the coastal waters close to Galveston, and it is anticipated that inland areas will experience an increase in fog during the night. Although there is a possibility that winds will pick up after midnight, which might result in some of the sea fog being dispersed, there is also a possibility that dense fog patches will continue to exist into the morning, particularly between High Island and Freeport.
It is strongly recommended that motorists exercise caution, slow down, and keep their headlights on low beam.
Texas Gas Service residential customers in Galveston will see a monthly rate increase beginning in June. The new charge will add $3.36 to each bill, affecting all residential customers on the island.
