After years of culinary triumphs, including a $150K World Food Championship win, pastry chef Bethany Boedicker is finally ready to open Milk & Honey Baking Company in Galveston.
Bethany Boedicker, a pastry chef celebrated for her victories in international competitions, is bringing her skills to a new platform: her very own bakery. After 11 years of creating delightful treats at Galveston's Moody Gardens and earning over $200,000 in awards at the World Food Championships, Boedicker is poised to unveil Milk & Honey Baking Company early next year.
The bakery will showcase a selection of freshly baked desserts, such as cookies, cakes, tarts, macarons, and eventually bread. Boedicker, 36, attributes her dynamic experience at Moody Gardens as a key factor in equipping her to manage her own business.
“I’m just trying to reach the Promised Land, and I’m almost there,” Boedicker remarked.
Originally from Lima, Ohio, Boedicker found her love for pastry while attending culinary school after relocating to Texas with her husband and three young sons. Her journey has been characterized by determination, balancing multiple jobs while achieving top accolades against Michelin-starred chefs.
Boedicker’s bakery will combine timeless favorites honed at Moody Gardens, such as her renowned chocolate cake, with creative designs and inventive delights. With her son, a culinary student, expected to lend a hand, Milk & Honey will undoubtedly be a family affair.
“The timing is perfect,” Boedicker expressed, enthusiastic about sharing her creations with the Galveston community.
