Buccaneers Blast Galveston with 17-Run Frame, Snap Back into Win Column

No. 5 Blinn College blew out Galveston College 22–7 in five innings on Tuesday thanks to a 17–run fourth inning that turned a close game into a rout.

Blinn (32-10, 20-5 Region XIV South) sent 21 players to the plate in the top of the fourth with the score tied at 2-2. They scored 17 runs on 10 walks, seven hits, and two home runs. The inning showed how to be patient and hit hard at the plate.

"Until the fourth inning, it was a really good, close game," said Dusty Hart, head coach of Blinn. "That's when we started getting a lot of good at-bats and playing really kind baseball." Hart continued, “ I won't hit a bad pitch the whole inning. As full an inning as I've ever seen it, that is.”

A walk with the bases loaded by freshman Seth Sloan set off the outburst. Bennett Fryman and Lane Allen, both sophomores, hit three-run home runs in that inning, which helped put the game out of reach.

They scored three more runs in the fifth, and by the end of the game, they had 13 hits and 13 walks. Galveston scored five runs in the fifth inning, but they were outscored five times and lost by the run rule.

The sophomore Matt Quintanar led the offensive explosion. He went 4-for-5 with a double, a single homer, and five RBIs. He was already hitting.387 in April, and now he's hitting—613 this month, which raised his team-high average to.433.

Fryman had two hits and drove in five runs, Allen had two hits and drove in three runs, and youngster Reece Lunsford had two hits and drove in three runs. The first three starters for the Buccaneers all got at least one hit and one run.

Blinn comes back to the game after having one of its best innings of the season.
