Omasha Brantley Named Head Coach at Galveston Ball Football Program

Galveston Ball High School has named Omasha Brantley as its new head football coach, taking over from Sheldon Bennight, as the program aims to build on last year’s impressive 9-3 record. Brantley, a native of Galveston County, offers more than ten years of football coaching experience along with a strong bond to the area.

Brantley, who served as the offensive coordinator at Clear Springs High School for the last three seasons, now embarks on his inaugural head coaching journey with a distinct goal: to maintain the team’s winning momentum while establishing a strong foundation for future success. He has held positions at both the high school and collegiate levels, notably contributing to a Texas high school team that advanced to the state championship game.

“It is a privilege to lead a program with such a distinguished history,” Brantley stated. “Galveston Ball has consistently been a venue where tradition and talent converge, and I look forward to fostering a team culture that embodies that spirit.”

Brantley officially assumes his role on April 22 and will promptly start to define his coaching philosophy and set expectations. He intends to launch a summer training program and engage the team in a 7-on-7 tournament to enhance skills and foster team chemistry in preparation for the fall season.

The program is currently undergoing a rebuilding phase, despite its impressive record from last season, and Brantley aims to capitalize on that momentum. He will focus on discipline, teamwork, and community engagement — principles he considers vital for lasting success.

The athletic director at Ball High conveyed strong assurance in Brantley’s capability to guide the team into a new era. “His energy, experience, and local roots position him as the ideal candidate to lead our program into the future,” they stated.
